*NEW* Book excerpts

Okay, I finally got organized and have added lengthy excerpts to my newsgroup for all the books currently with Liquid Silver Books, the two that are currently available, and those that are coming soon. At least a couple of them, anyway... There are LOTS of titles in the coming soon queue, and I am slowly getting to them, honestly!!

If anyone wants me to add excerpts like these for the Amber Quill Press titles, let me know via the newsgroup, or leave a comment to that effect, and I'll see about getting them ready and posted, okay?

Also, don't forget the monthly FREE eBook contest, it's still running, so if there's something you'd like to win, drop by the website, make a selection from the BOOKS page, and send me an email with your choice. It's that simple. The winner is announced at the first of each month on the newsgroup and the blog.

Exciting new project

Well, I've been hinting that something exciting is in the works, so it's about time to tell everyone what's happening. For those of you who've been checking in regularly, you know all about my "modern western" serialized story with Branscombe Richmond, the Rebel Knight tale. Now there's going to be a second serial. The new one is work in conjunction with Branscombe's new television show, Good Morning, Hawaii. The plan at this point is to write a serialized romance novel set on the islands. It will be part historical and part contemporary. We're in early stages at this point, but if it all comes together as planned, I'll have the proposal story done in a week or so, then the first chapter will be written afterward. All in all, we're probably looking at a month before this appears. BUT, the cover has been designed by a local friend, and it's in the Photos section of my newsgroup, so stop in and have a look, all right?

Also, the first reviews for my debut novel with Liquid Silver Books have been fabulous!! I'm so pleased, honestly. Review excerpts are on my website and the newsgroup. The one I'm dying to know about is, of course, my Victorian mystery/romance, so I can't wait to see those!! Here's hoping the reviews are good...

I'll be adding a couple of new, extended book excerpts to the newsgroup over the next couple of days, so I hope you'll drop in, and sign up, and jump into the group with lots to say. See ya there, and thanks to everyone for all their support and interest. You can never know how much it means to a writer to know that readers are enjoying the work, but trust me, it means everything, it really does.

Happiness.....

Got this in the mail and thought I should share....

Chit-chat, and another New Release

Okay, contract news aside, it’s time for some chat, since I’m generally feeling burned out at the moment! I have too many ideas and not enough time to ever get them down onto the page, so… Some folks think that’s a “good” problem, but if you’ve ever lived with that many ideas whirling in your brain, you know it’s a recipe for madness or collapse. For me, I don’t know which one’s gonna win!

The new release is all set for Monday, so if anyone’s been waiting for the Victorian mystery/romance with the ties to Jack The Ripper, the wait is over. Personally, I think this is a much better book than the last one, mostly because it’s more of a truthful display of my writing style. I don’t, as a rule, think that explicit sex scenes enhance a story in any real way. If the book is good, then it’s real strength has to lie in the plot, the characterizations, and the way you execute the tale you want to tell. Romance is a side-effect of any story that involves people in emotional circumstances, so even in my fantasy tales, it’s there, however secondary. But, romance doesn’t always equate with sexual activity that is described in intimate detail, so… For me, I don’t ever write with graphic detail in a setting where it just doesn’t “feel” like the correct way to approach it. It’s going to be different for everyone, of course. In the first of the Devane Files books, there is romance and sexuality, but if you’re looking for another story like the one that was depicted in “Simply The Best”, you’ll be disappointed, I’m afraid. If you want a story that is crafted around two injured hearts learning to love again, then this one is very likely to appeal to you on many levels. There’s an excerpt on my website, and there’s going to be a different one posted to the LSB Blog on Tuesday morning. The URL for that one is: http://www.liquidsilverbooks.com/blog

AVAILABLE September 4th, 2006

The Devane Files Book One: OUT OF HELL
ISBN: 1-59578-268-0
Genre: Victorian era Romance/Mystery
*URL: http://www.liquidsilverbooks.com/books/outofhell.htm

In 1892 Whitechapel, only a few years after the infamous Ripper murders, Inspector Michael Devane is given the job of investigating the murder of a theatre producer. Devane is a haunted man, driven by the dark demons of his past, the elusive Ripper, and a growing addiction to opium. His brilliance is unquestionable, but his methods are highly unorthodox. When Devane comes into the home of the victim, an unpleasant man named Robert Bradshaw, he meets Bethany Davenshire-Bradshaw. In Bradshaw’s widow, Michael finds a kindred spirit who defies both the conventions of society, and the trappings of false mourning. As they grow closer, Devane discovers that Beth is a woman of many secrets, but could one of them really be that she is the murderer he’s looking for?

*NOTE: The URL won’t take you to the book until 6-7 PM ET on Monday evening. In the meantime if you want to have a look, you can go to the main page of the Liquid Silver site, (http://LSBooks.com) and click the “Coming Soon” link in the left sidebar menu.

The next book won’t be turning up until October, probably mid-month. That one is another Historical for the most part. It’s contemporary in sections, but the bulk of the story is set in the 1700s. It’s also a return to the vampire romance, and is at times quite erotic in nature. The cover will be done shortly, and once it’s ready, I’ll post it here, and of course, it will appear on the “Coming Soon” page of my website.

Other projects are my LXG: Dorian Gray romance, which I’m hoping to have finished in another month or so. Also, the next chapter of REBEL KNIGHT.

Before Christmas I’m also hoping to get well into my new pirate romance, so there’s lots of stuff on the go, I just need the time to get to everything. I guess that leads back to my earlier moan about too many ideas, doesn’t it? Time to sign off again if we’re back to that!!! Everyone have a great long weekend, and I hope you’ll drop in often and comment or send me an email if you’d like to chat… ‘Bye for now…

New contracts signed

Another busy week. I've had four new books accepted for Liquid Silver Books, and I'm thrilled!!! Another full-length novel, which is both Historical and contemporary, as well as being a vampire tale full of sex, murder, and other things vampiric! This one is currently a tentative October release, and is called Descent Into Darkness. Then another contemporary action/thriller, The Domino Effect, and the second Devane Files title. I am so excited about all this. Especially the Devane books. Also, a collection of short stories called Passionate Kisses, which will include SIX titles, at least three of them never before released. This week also marked my debut with LSB, and for those of you who haven't heard, my Action/Adventure novel SIMPLY THE BEST is now available!!! It's HOT, and Max Richmonte is one sexy hero. One reader's already used the word "insatiable" to describe him, and I have to agree with her!! I hope you'll check it out at:
http://www.liquidsilverbooks.com/books/simplythebest.htm As always, thanks so much to everyone for your support. I can't tell you how much it means to me to hear from you, and to know that you're enjoying the books. Talk to you again soon!!!

Countdown to *NEW* releases and a couple of new "must reads" to suugest to you

Well, in a couple of weeks now I make my debut with Liquid Silver Books, with my first full-length erotic romance novel. I’m very excited about my comeback, even though I’ve only been away about five months — it feels like forever, honestly! So, I hope you’ll all enjoy the novel, SIMPLY THE BEST, and please DO let me, and the folks at LSB know what you think of the book, all right? Because of a personal loss with a staff member, the book is going to be delayed a week, but it WILL be out on August 21st, so that's the date to check in!! (And buy the book, too, I hope?? )

For me, the next one is really the one that’s closer to my heart. Set in Victorian London, OUT OF HELL is the first of what I hope will be many books featuring Inspector Michael Devane. The first novella of the series is due early in September, and I hope you’ll take the time to meet the good Inspector, I think you’ll like him if you enjoy Historical romance fiction with a touch of mystery and eroticism.

The “must reads” now — If you like the 1800s England era, and vampires, or both, you really should read After Midnight from Teresa Medeiros. I’ve just finished it, and I loved it! I don’t even like vampires much, but that aspect was the framework for an engaging, passionate love story, not the focus of it, and Ms. Medeiros did a fabulous job with the story. It was rich in detail and read like poetry. I highly recommend it.

And, of course, I also recommend ANY book by my wonderful friend Lucy Monroe. As I’ve said to Lucy, the one thing that makes all her books so special is the way they make you feel when you put them down — happy inside, and that warm fuzzy stays with you long after the book is finished, so they’re all a joy to read. If you haven’t had the good fortune to read Lucy’s romances, it would really be worth your time to locate them and indulge in her brand of magic and romance. It will make you feel great inside, believe me!!!

Quick question for the LXG fans out there

All right, as you may know if you’ve visited my “Fantasy Pages” before today, I am in the process of writing a novella based on one of my very favourite movies, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I know I’m not the only fan of this movie, so I have a question for any of you folks who like the film, or have seen it and wouldn’t mind supplying some input, okay?

Question is thus: I’m bringing Dorian Gray back to the land of the living in this novella, and given his history, and the way the League was presented, do you think he’d be a better man this time around, or totally without conscience? I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this character, as he was played by Stuart Townsend in the movie, so… Comments, suggestions, or observations anyone???

Thanks!
