Guest Blogger: JAMIE HILL

Today's guest.... JAMIE HILL... Welcome, and thank you for joining the party, Jamie!!

First I'd like to thank Denyse for having me here today. Since I'm probably new to many of you, I thought I'd give you a bit by way of introduction.

I was born and raised in the Midwest, where I still live with my husband of twenty-seven years. We have two college aged sons, and I have a step-daughter who's married with two kids of her own. I'm just barely old enough to answer to 'grandma', but I don't suggest calling me that.

I started writing at about the age of ten. (What author didn't?) That early stuff was Dumpster-worthy but heartfelt. I resumed storytelling about fifteen years ago, and struggled with one manuscript, and the rejection of it, for many years. Eventually I discovered the online world of e-publishers and e-books, and from there my work moved from romance to erotic romance. My first novels and short stories were published in 2006. Oh, and that slaved-over manuscript with twenty-seven rejection slips? I chopped it down from a hundred thousand word monster-piece to a thirty thousand word erotic novella, and it was released this year.

I've been published in four anthologies with Whiskey Creek Press – Torrid and had short stories with Midnight Showcase and Forbidden Publications. My erotic novella trilogy, Unexpected Love, is being released by Total e-bound Publishing this year as three separate e-books or the complete series in trade paperback. TEB has also contracted several of my other novellas and short stories, in various genres. Phaze is the publisher of another anthology I'm very proud of, 413 Remembrance Lane: Diary of a House, and the 2008 Eppie finalist M/M anthology: Phaze Fantasies III. I have several other novellas with Phaze, and several titles with publisher Freya's Bower. (My chapter book Edge of Sanity is on sale at Freya's until May 31!)

My work has gone from vanilla m/f relationships to f/f, m/m and recently D/s stuff. I love the variety, and strive to push myself to try new ideas, and not get labeled as the author of one type of thing. I do write contemporary stuff, could never do historical, and sometimes there's paranormal. It's all so much fun!

When I'm not in front of the computer writing, I can often be found there anyway, tinkering with my website or working as a freelance editor. I also enjoy reading, watching scary movies with my family and tending to the fish in my large aquarium, including a foot-long Bala Shark.

I'll give away the ebook download of choice from my available titles to one random commenter on this blog post. So drop a note, and take a chance on winning!

Thanks again Denyse, and have a great week everyone!

~ Jamie Hill

Genre: Short Vampire Erotica
Cover by: Delinda Jasper
Publisher/BUY: Forbidden Publications

The Isle of Nyx has become the dread of all sailors who must dare the waters surrounding the mythical island. Local legends say a vampire prince resides in the ancient castle that can be seen from the harbor of the island. At his side is a powerful sorceress whose song can control and summon storms.

In a desperate attempt to end the eternal threat looming over them, the people of the Aurora Islands sacrifice their greatest treasure, the princess Sarita, entrusting her with the task of seducing and destroying the dark prince who has been plundering their wealth and their people for centuries?

Read what the reviewers are saying...

"4 Cups!...A tight story full of the undeniable lust of vampires. Their violent couplings add a sense of passion harnessed by sheer will. The hero is dark, but needy, in his pursuit of life?s essence, while the heroine aids her lover by seeking that which could destroy him. They are both master and slave to each other in their love. The storyline captured my attention and would not let up until I had finished."—Katherine L. Hunt, Coffee Time Romance

"4 Angels!...A very quick journey into the Isle of Nyx with a vampire to lust after. Jaden is a very hot, sexy man who easily takes his victims while pillaging for more wealth. Sarita is a brave young woman who knows her people?s fate rests in her hands. Arrah is protective of Jaden but allows him to play with his victims, although she would never permit harm to come to him. All three characters are brought to life in this short tale...Denyse M. Bridger definitely packs a punch with this short, erotic story and this reviewer would love to read a longer tale about Jaden and his illustrious Arrah."—JoAnn, Fallen Angel Reviews

Read a short excerpt...

The back of Arrah's neck tingled, and she sighed. Jaden would soon be making love to his captive. Sarita was falling under his spell, however unwillingly. Lasting jealousy had long ceased to be an emotion Arrah felt when Jade amused himself with those he captured aboard the vessels he plundered. Once they succumbed to his fatal charm, he was like a child who'd won a game. Then he would be looking once more to Arrah's power and ageless allure.

She went inside again, to the small pool of blood and glittering water that rested atop a pedestal in the center of this chamber. Jaden rarely came here, the distinct tang of blood in the air made him restless, and hungry.

Arrah dipped a finger into the cauldron and began to sing softly. The swirl of the tainted waters sped up, and her voice rose with the tiny tempest and reached outward. The sky was growing light, dawn coming much quicker than she?d realized. But there was time. This was a night when her magic would be strong and certain. The moon shone down upon her, bathed her in its spectral light and cool power. She changed the resonance of her song, plunged deeper into the shadows that veiled the answer she needed.

It took much longer than she wanted. Whomever had cast the spell of deception had done it well.

The pitch of her tone altered again, and demanded revelation.

Slowly, as though leafing through pages in a book, the layers of magic began to peel away?

Welcome to my latest guest, the talented Kathleen Grieve... Kathleen is going to offer you a special gift today, too, a download of her book, so be sure to leave a comment and you're entered for the draw, okay? Now, over to today's star....

I often wonder why we fantasize. Is it our brain’s way of stimulating our consciousness to make us aware of our deep rooted desires? While trying to think of a blog topic for Fantasy Pages, my mind kept coming back to the blog’s title~ FANTASY. Fantasy lovers, fantasy jobs, fantasy--well, you get the idea. The list could go on and on…

And then my mind turned another degree and I wondered about the fantasies I wove into my book, THE DOCTOR’S DECEPTION. My heroine Nurse Faith Daniels is obsessed with Godiva Chocolate. Well, anything chocolate will do, but Godiva is her favorite. Fortunately for her, my hero Dr. Stone Lassiter was born with the brown eyes. Here’s a chapter one excerpt that begins Faith’s fantasy of the delectable Dr. Lassiter:

Faith’s thoughts drifted back to Dr. Lassiter. An image of his hard, chocolate brown eyes rose before her. What would it be like to melt that chocolate? Faith shivered.

And from chapter three…

Her earlier thought returned. What would it be like to melt that chocolate? Too bad she didn’t even own a fondu pot.

Just from those brief lines, the reader gets some really good insight into what this woman really desires deep inside. What happens when she acts on that fantasy? Well, you’ll have to read to find out.

But what about my hero? What does the uptight Dr. Lassiter fantasize about? Well, Faith of course! Here’s an excerpt from chapter nine that gives you a clue:

The breeze ruffled a few strands of pale blonde hair around her forehead. She pushed them out of her eyes, and he stared at the bow bobbing right between her breasts. Gaze lifting to the swell of her cleavage exposed by the deep neckline of the red blouse she wore, he bit back a groan.

Ever since she’d walked into her living room this morning, he’d had an itch to tug on the bow and un-wrap her like a Christmas present.

Stone only has one thing on his mind~sex. The tension he’s feeling is palpable and by the end of the chapter he knows he’s in big trouble where this woman is concerned.

As I read romance, I want to be completely lost in the fantasy of the world the author has built for me to delve into. It is one way that I can relieve my stress and leave my worries behind, if only for an hour or two. Which is another great reason for fantasizing.

Have you ever lived one of your fantasies? You know what I mean. Have you added a little spice to your romantic relationships? Ever dreamed of sky diving and then took that plunge? Attained the unattainable? I’ve always wondered about that. If you did, was the experience everything you’d expected? Was the sex hotter? Or did it grow cold? Did you jump from that plane or off that cliff only to fall flat?

There is that old saying, “be careful what you wish for…” I’m not much of a risk taker, so I’ll just live my fantasies through my characters. But what about you?
