Some of you who are regular users of Facebook may have
noticed I’m no longer present there. It’s been one of those weeks that make you
wonder if there’s any sanity left in the cyber-world. I’ve been wondering for
some time about taking a break from the big blue FB, and events occurred this
past week making me consider it more seriously. This morning when I opened my
mail to the happy presence of several shit comments left on my blog related to
something that happened last week, I figured it was time for that break. I’m
past caring to deal with snide, snotty attitudes from people who don’t know how
to behave like adults. The lies, the attitudes, and the make believe power
games are ridiculous. I have no more tolerance for any of it. When confronted
or called on the childish behaviour, people scream whatever issues they have to
inspire pity. The truth is, we ALL have serious health issues at the moment,
one way or another. It doesn’t excuse ignorance.
I have work I want to get done. I may or may not reactivate
my Facebook profile. Right now, I see no point to being the target of petty
children who play people against each other. In the real world, adults speak to
each other in an intelligent manner, and apologize when they screw up. In
make-believe land, that doesn’t happen. I’m suffering a multitude of problems
in my life at the moment, and I really don’t have the time or the energy to
deal with games like this.
After a flood of inbox messages, my profile has been reactivated, but it will not be used for some time is my guess. However, if it reassure people to see it live - so be it.

Be well, friends, and well blessed... always.
You be well, and do what you have to do for yourself. Love you muchly!
ReplyDeleteThank you. We'll see...
DeleteMy dear friend, sister of my heart, and mentor this all is going to pass-it has to.
ReplyDeleteYes, it will pass, Nikki. It has... And the damage has been done on many fronts. So, it's over.
Delete<3 Sometimes it gets hard to say screw them, but you can if I can. Love you, lady. Don't let those who can't play nice in the sandbox get to you. Some of them make a career out of bullying simply cause their lives suck. Meh, that's their problem, you have good friends they don't.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Gina. I had deactivated my FB, but it caused such a stir, I let it go live again. I haven't looked at it since, and don't intend to anytime soon. I'll not be going out on a limb for anyone again, though. Love you lots, and thank you again, Lady!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's best to just walk away for an extended period of time. I did that for about 10 months back in 2011 and only reactivated when my soon to be ex-publisher suggested a larger social media presence.
ReplyDeleteThank you, G.B. Miller. I think you're right, and the down time will be good. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd block some people and leave some groups rather than give up interacting with thousands of followers who quietly behave and enjoy what I share. And I wouldn't give those 50 or 100 or 1000 troublemakers the breath it takes to complain about them. Just me, though. I like my social media drama-free.
ReplyDeleteTrue enough, and my restricted list has grown considerably today.... but even at that, I need the break, to work, and to think. I'm enjoying the relaxation of using Twitter and Pinterest at the moment, and Facebook gets a quick pass-through. I do think it'll be better for my mental health for a little while. :)
